For Health Reasons - Any fisheries biologist will tell you that the older a fish is, the more time it has to collect pollutants, toxins, and chemicals like mercury and PCB’s. For that reason, eating larger predatory fish is currently not recommended by many country fisheries agencies.
Next time you go out and catch some fish - put them back in the water. Watch them swim away. Smile. You just saved a fish, allowed it to continue reproducing, and someone else can catch it again.
